Latoya Ross is the mother of her teenage son, DJ, whom she greatly adores. She is a descendant from immigrant beginnings through her mother, Carmen Ross, and her grandmother, Beatrice Ross. Latoya’s roots run deep and she has learned a lot from her mother and grandmother. Latoya’s grandmother was born in Riga, Latvia then later married and came to the United States. Beatrice raised seven children and many grandchildren. Latoya learned her style, love for the community, love for the Lord, and most importantly, how to pray from her grandmother. It is this foundation that has lead to what we see today in Latoya’s accomplishments personally, professionally, and spiritually.
Latoya was born and raised in the Hilltop of Tacoma, Washington. Many of her gifts were cultivated at a young age from the very streets she was raised in. Latoya’s greatest passion is serving the Lord in all she does. As a Mother, Minister, Ministry Marketplace Leader, Entrepreneur, Author, Founder, and Leader, Latoya is grateful for how far she has come but also knows how much more the Lord is calling her to do. Growing up in the violent 90’s of the Hilltop has taught her to serve with humility in the seat of gratitude.
Latoya is the Owner of Elle Ross Salon & Company where she offers natural hair care, extensions (Elle Ross Luxury Line), and a luxurious salon experience for the community. She began her career as a braider in the 6th grade and has continued to service some of the same clients. Latoya attended the Gene Juarez Academy of Beauty and completed her training at BJ’s Beauty and Barber College. She has been in business for over 15 years and has big plans with her company.
Latoya serves as a Minister at Greater Destiny Church in Tacoma under the leadership of Superintendent C. Ivan Johnson. She passionately serves in multiple departments including the Youth Department, Women’s Executive Planning Committee, Treasury, Pastoral Care Team, and as an Intercessor. Latoya is committed to building the Kingdom for Jesus Christ. Latoya also serves as the Co-Chair for the Professional Women and Business Department of the Washington State Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ as well as in the Young Women’s Purity Department.
Latoya is the Founder of Beauty Mark Women Empowerment where local women gather, host conferences, create shopping markets for local small businesses, and host events. This organization has continued to grow over the years as it is Latoya’s passion to unite women. The annual Beauty Mark Women’s Conference Tacoma has hosted over 100 guests for several consecutive years and plans to continue to do so.
As we all experienced many different types of loss during the pandemic, Latoya found ways to encourage, empower, and unite people. She released her second book, ER In The Pandemic, a short self help guide to help assist those dealing with loss. Latoya got serious about her Facebook group, Tacoma Beauty and Business, which has grown to over 14, 000 members. The Tacoma Beauty and Business group has become the local Entrepreneur “Google." If you need a stylist, church home, entertainment, food, decor, or many other things, this group has become a hub for many local businesses. Tacoma Beauty and Business succesfully hosted its first Expo in 2023. There is much more to come for the City of Destiny from Latoya Ross.
